INTERNET Safety

The internet can be a place where people can be somebody else.  This poses a lot of risks for young people and the possibility of exploitation.

Did you know that 62% of people who play online games are adults.  Which means you are more likely to be befriended by an adult than you are another young person of your own age.

The Breck Foundation

The Breck Foundation works to increase awareness around online grooming and safety.  It was formed by the mother of Breck Bednar who was murdered after being groomed online. For more information on Breck Bednar or to read about the dangers and support around online games, visit their website through the following link:

CEOP

In addition to the above, CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command) has a wealth of information, as well as, details on how to report potential threats to the Police.  The link to their website is below:

Zipit App

The new Zipit App is aimed at children for them to download and use if someone asks them to send a naked selfie. They can then use the app to use images on zipit to reply. If someone is trying to get them to send naked images, they can use the images on Zipit to keep the situation in control. For more information visit the Child Line website here:LINK
